Dramatic eyeshadow | Eva Wiseman

This is how you make an entrance. The Dior eye palette used here, of rich green, prunes, and blues marked Peter Philips’s first official colour collection for Christian Dior Make-up, so they had to be memorable. And what could be more bold than a massive thwack of rounded shadow, painted on with a wet sponge-brush for added depth? Get it right, and you’ll look like a 60s cartoon. Wrong? An amateur mime.

Now’s the time to…

Relax. It’s National Spa Week, so there are loads of decent offers on (bring a friend for free!) and charity events fundraising for Macmillan nurses. To find your nearest participating spa, see spaweek.co.uk. And for a chance to win a couple’s spa retreat at Rockliffe Hall, email magazine@observer.co.uk with ‘spa break’ in the subject line.
