(If you’re skeptical like I was,
I have chronic back and sciatic pain despite being a moderately athletic person who cross-trains 4 days/week. While I have found that exercising regularly and seeing a chiropractor has helped alleviate some pain, it only seems to be temporary because when I go back to work, the pain returns. I have been a dental hygienist for almost 20 years…almost everyone who works in dentistry for this length of time has shoulder, neck or back problems….we sit all day with terrible posture. For the past 15 years, I have spent thousands of dollars on different forms of therapy and have just started seeing a chiropractor again. He recently found the core of my problem and recommended certain exercises to help strengthen specific back and glute muscles. The Foundation Training videos claims to target and strengthen all the muscles to support good posture and a healthier, stronger back and to relieve pain.
I just received the DVDs a few days ago and have done at least 20-50 minutes of the video every day. I was expecting a low resolution, poor quality video but was pleasantly surprised to find the opposite. The instructions and demostrations are very easy to follow—very precise and clear and you don’t need to be in prime yoga shape to do any of the exercises. Anyone can do this and once you are more familiar with the stretches, you can do this anywhere throughout the day (which Eric recommends doing the Founder pose as much as possible). There is no equipment needed, a mat and chair is optional. The nice thing about this is that I don’t feel that I need to do the entire video if I’m short on time; even 15 minutes seems to help and you can definitely feel a real good stretch in all the right places.
It’s too early for me to say if Foundation Training is going to help completely alleviate my pain; however, I can say that it is targeting all my weak spots and seems to be helping my posture—I am already standing taller with my shoulders back. This purchase has been well worth it so far…less expensive than a visit to my chiropractor.
