My 5 & 1/2 year old had her heart set on dressing as a bride for Halloween this year. When we couldn’t find a suitable bride costume from any of the local stores we decided on this one. While it is a bit on the pricey side which is normal with Melissa & Doug items, the product is made a little better than most of the other costumes we looked at, and this one comes with a veil and bridal bouquet to complete the outfit.

There are a few layers of thin material that make up the bottom half of the dress, and one of the layers does include a plastic hoop to help the dress ‘bell’ out like a brides gown. The back is held closed with 3 velcro tabs, and there is even a velcro tab on the band of the veil. The manufacturer’s description says for ages 3-6 years. My daughter is 5 & 1/2, 44″ tall and 45 pounds, and the outfit fits her perfectly – just the right length and fit around her belly. I think in about 6-9 months time the outfit will likely be a little snug around the middle, although there is elastic around the waist so it will last a while.

The flowers sewn to the veil, dress and bouquet are really cheap looking and small- just fabric flowers, it looks more like a small stuffed toy than a bouqet. I plan to stop at the craft store and buy some fake flowers to make a better looking bouquet for her to carry for Halloween.

Overall it’s a nice play outfit and if taken care of properly it should last for quite a while.

I bought this dress for my daughter’s 4th birthday. She loved it! She wears a 5t, and the dress fits her very nicely. It hangs almost to the floor, and is a little loose around the belly. The dress is durable, and a good value. The veil and bouquet are also very cute.

My daughter would give this a 5. I am pleased with the purchase but not so much with the sparkles/glitter all over my house since its arrival. My husband took the dress outside more than once to shake off the excess. My 3 year old adores it. She is a 3T/4T size right now and this dress still allows some room to grow.
