I love fashion. It’s been a huge part of my life. I used to have four Benetton franchises around the Lake District, but now I just have one in the market town of Penrith.
I believe in the saying ‘If you want something done, ask a busy person.’ Running four shops was hard. When my children were growing up, I sometimes worked from 8.30am to 10pm. I don’t know how I did it. Now, both my daughters have children of their own and also run businesses, so I’ve cut back my hours to help out.
I have three grandsons aged one month, four and seven. The older two have already inherited my taste for clothes. Dressing them is my passion and I often buy them new clothes. They’re already quite picky about what they wear. My daughter says, “Oh Mum, what have you started?”
My husband and I spend weekends in London or Manchester about once a month. I love shopping and we both enjoy going out for nice meals or to clubs.
I like Victoria Beckham’s style. Here I’m wearing a pair of her sunglasses that I’ve just bought. Most of the rest of my outfit – the leggings, boots, headband and skirt – is from Benetton; I can’t recall where I got the coat. I do sometimes think I dress near the mark for my age, but I believe if you’re careful, you can wear pretty much whatever you want.
