Golf and understated style aren’t the most natural bedfellows – the sport is usually associated with loud jumpers and questionable blazers. Or, as Happy Gilmore watchers well know, a highly prized gold jacket. But, hold on, Darren Clarke, Europe’s captain for the 2016 Ryder Cup, has emerged with a bold – for golf – new look, which may yet give the argyle-loving sport a bit of unexpected fashion kudos. After a health kick, the Northern Irish golfer has reportedly lost three stone and taken himself off to a fancy hairdressers. He is pictured slimmed down with a very smart new haircut – sort of a grownup version of the Giroud, if you will – and a neat and tidy beard that those in east London would be most jealous of. The result? A style hole in one, we’d say.
