Author Emma Healey has just won the Costa first novel award for her poignant and thrilling novel, Elizabeth is Missing, the tale of an 82-year-old woman with dementia who is determined to solve a crime. Wonderful news, especially since the 29-year-old is now on track to scoop a host of major literary awards. However we’ve been sidetracked by her hair (long, choppy, with a gamine fringe), in particular its colour, a sort of peachy shade not dissimilar to Dalston salon Bleach’s hugely popular “washed out orange” rinse-out toner. Before you get spiky about the focus of this piece, yes, we have read Healey’s book and yes, it is a triumph. You know, like her hair.
