Fringed suede jackets have moved on from the Midnight Cowboy blazer to a neater, western cut with fringing, championed by Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent. For a more wallet-friendly version that skimps on none of the Woodstock hedonism, head to Topman for Max’s festival-inspired outfit. The less showy cousin of cowboy fringe is the plain western cut (basically a denim jacket in suede): Reiss’s bluebell shade is a real winner, while the understated bomber (in faux suede) from Zara is cheap and chic with ageless appeal, as David’s look demonstrates.
