How I get ready: Millie Mackintosh

Getting ready starts the day before an event, with a spray tan and a lymphatic drainage massage. The massage makes a difference if you are feeling bloated and it makes your legs look more sculpted. Nichola Joss is my go-to woman – I have a speedy one in half an hour, or, if I am having an hour-and-a-half treatment, she also does my face. The effect is instant – my skin is plumped and my cheekbones appear.

On the day, I’ll have a mani and pedi, and my signature blow-dry or an up-do. I do my own makeup and I’m all about glowy, sun-kissed skin. I love Charlotte Tilbury – her amazing illuminator, Wonderglow, makes your skin look flawless. Then I use a tinted moisturiser, and concealer under my eyes or on any blemishes, rather than a heavy base all over. It’s nice to see a bit of skin – you want it to look like your face. My husband, Professor Green, doesn’t like me in strong makeup – I think a lot of girls’ partners prefer them natural.

If we are going to a formal event together, l think about how our outfits complement each other. He tends to go for blue suits, which is lucky for me as blue goes with a lot of colours. I am least confident about my hips and stomach – it depends how healthy I’m being – but there is always a way you can dress to cover them. I like to show off my legs, but I have had a couple of wardrobe disasters with the wind recently, so I might have to be more careful in future. Once I’m ready, I’ll have a glass of champagne to help me relax, and listen to music, like London Grammar, Lorde and the Weeknd.

Millie Mackintosh is an ambassador for this year’s Investec Derby Festival on 5 and 6 June.
