Kim Kardashian’s in Vogue

Kim Kardashian is now officially fashion-approved – she is on the cover of American Vogue. The glossy has released the cover of its April issue, and Kardashian stars, along with her fiance Kanye West. Kardashian is wearing a dress that looks more than a tad like a wedding gown she could wear for the couple’s forthcoming nuptials, and her gobstopper of an engagement ring can’t be missed either.

The message? By accepting West’s proposal, Kardashian has also been accepted into fashion’s inner circle. It obviously means a lot. Kardashian described the experience of posing for Vogue as “a dream come true” – on Twitter, of course.

This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can’t even… http://t.co/CbD5ThUqor

While the fashion world hasn’t always been sure about Kardashian and her reality TV beginnings, West is in with Vogue editor Anna Wintour and has been campaigning hard for this to happen. He recently compared Kardashian to a modern Marilyn Monroe and has courted Wintour with lunch dates and concert tickets. Judging by a behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot on the magazine’s website, the couple have also given the magazine an AAA pass. The Annie Leibovitz images include the couple’s daughter North and look like a fantasy version of their wedding photos, complete with private jets and sports cars. Kardashian wears white dresses – one feathered, another with net flowers – throughout.

It all raises the question of what she might wear on the big day itself – 24 May. While the dress Kardashian wore for Vogue looks like a classic bridal gown, we hope she’ll choose something a bit more edgy for the actual event. It’s a safe bet that her dress will be designed by Riccardo Tisci, the designer at Givenchy and a friend of the couple. He dressed Kardashian – and her bump – for last year’s Met Ball, in a floral gown and matching gloves. That might seem a little OTT for walking down the aisle, but then Kardashian has already done the meringue thing when she married Kris Humphries.

Kardashian’s alliance with West feels far more fashion – Vogue is just the start.
