The future is Dior (and its Star Wars-style location)

JJ Abrams is all very well but we’d like to see the kind of Star Wars remake that Raf Simons could turn his hand to. His latest show for Christian Dior, a cruise extravaganza entitled La Collection Croisière, took place yesterday in Le Palais Bulles, Pierre Cardin’s Côte d’Azur house, designed by architect Antti Lovag. Using a succession of bubble-like rooms – hence its name – it is more than a little Tataouine – and has that space-age thing that is so fashion right now. Appropriately, models rather than Luke Skywalker, resided in this bubble palace, wearing Simons’ vision of what we’ll all want to be wearing in the near future. That meant lots of print, flippy dresses and the classic Bar jacket shape deconstructed. The perfect uniform for a galaxy far, far away – well, the French Riviera, anyway. Abrams, take note.
