Sensitive skin can be very demanding. It won’t put up with cream that’s too heavy, too oily or too thick to rub in. And as for strong chemical smells or cloying perfume, it turns its delicate nose up. After testing brands large and small, I found Ren’s easily absorbed, soothing Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream (£27, asos.com) the nearest thing to an ideal fit. A close second was Frankincense Hydrating Cream from Neal’s Yard (£27.50, nealsyard remedies.com), which is deeply moisturising with a pleasing linseed smell reminiscent of old-fashioned artists’ studios. And MyChelle’s Pure Harmony Cream (£23, mychelleuk.com) feels reassuringly cold on application and leaves skin feeling amazingly silky.
