The best new fragrances

Good spring fragrances are the sort you want to mist liberally into the air and do a little dance in. They smell like blossom and Persil and greening grass; like baby bunnies rubbing their eyes (yes, that does have a smell. Jeez). And sometimes they smell like watermelons. I know! Surprising. Of all the new fragrances out this season, it’s Shay Blue’s Watermelons (£55, shayandblue.com) that’s really got me. For the men I’d recommend the recently relaunched Carven Vetiver (£50, selfridges.com), which smells a little bit woody, but also lemony and green (vetiver being grass in fragrance language). And if your holiday can’t come soon enough, Diptyque’s Florabellio (£58, diptyque paris.com) is a sea-salt scent done beautifully.
