Better Make-Up Than I had Expected,
The make-up is surprisingly good quality, although the eye shadows are better if you use a cream base before applying them. The shadow will look more color drenched if you do and they will last a lot longer. I used the cover-up for just such a purpose. You don’t get many true brown or tan or neutral shades (what you do get is very few matte shades, so most are not really appropriate for the work place) so the colors are better for wearing to parties or to clubs
The lipstick is surprisingly long lasting and I love the fact that you get one neutral shade and one that is a rich deep sort of burgundy tone. The small pots of color are ideal for all day use. However, you can’t take them with you in your bag. The tubes of gloss are tiny and perfect for an evening bag.
One of the extra cool things is that you will have room under the trays to use (If you aren’t worried about the trays longevity) for storing jewelery and other what-nots! When you are tired of the make-up you have a great box for stationary, jewelery or hair accessories.

|Cute kit with a lot of variety,
Well, there’s a reason for that. This isn’t high end makeup. The colors are good, but the actual makeup is a bit dry. The powder and blush requires a bit of work, particularly with the tiny brush that’s included. The eye shadow, which comes in a stunning array of colors, many of them quite beautiful, is good, but again a bit dry. You’d be better off using a set of good eye brushes with them. If you’re good at applying makeup you can get some fairly spectacular eyes out of this set, and I’d have to say that the shadow collection is really the best part of the All-in-One.
The eye pencils? Again dryish, and this is where it becomes a problem. A dry pencil will drag on your lid and apply spottily. It took me about ten minutes just to get the pencil on and looking right. The color does smudge easily with a damp swab — possibly too easily — so smoothing out your line is easier than you might fear. Also? There’s no mascara in this collection. None. The Housemate tells me that most collections don’t include mascara, though the big ones I’ve seen generally do. Either way you’re going to need your own mascara to finish your eye.
Lipsticks are, again, a bit dry except for the gloss. I should stress here that the consistency of these items doesn’t make them unusable, it simply makes them a bit harder to use. Making up will take you a bit longer than you imagine it will. The colors in my case are significantly different from the colors in the product photos. This was particularly apparent to me when I looked at the lip colors which in the photo show up as ranging from true red to blue-reds and burgundies. Mine were almost all in the brownish-pink family, not good colors for me. There were variations in the colors of the powders/blushes and shadows as well, though in neither case were those variations as problematic as with the lip colors.
I like the case very much, but the design of the trays makes it necessary to remove them from the case in order to open them up. I managed to smash one of the blushes trying to take the taped-on lid off the bottom tray. There’s no way to get to the lip brushes without taking the middle tray out of the case, so when you take the tray out to remove the lid, put the brushes somewhere else unless you want to be wrestling plastic every time you make up. That’s badly thought out.
To sum up, it’s a nice collection of slightly lower-end makeup in a cute case. It is, as the product description says, wonderful for beginners, and people like me who go all gooey when we see something like this. I do feel obligated to point out that all of this makeup has probably been tested on animals, though I have no way of knowing. A statement on their website seems to imply that they don’t, but really says exactly nothing on the subject while using a whole lot of words. Several watchdog groups list Cameo as a company to avoid. I make no claims either way, and feel that it’s up to each individual to decide. Just be aware.
